Job Purpose:
To provide person centred support to adults within their own home in order to promote independence and personal fulfilment in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- To provide support and assistance to carers and people with care needs.
- To undertake the tasks specified in the support plan which may include the following personal and social care tasks:
- Assisting with all aspects of personal care including but not limited to; bathing, strip washing, oral hygiene and hair care, dressing, undressing and assist with all toilet and continence requirements.
- Ensuring that Service Users have given their consent prior to any examination, care, treatment or support taking place and that all Service Users are treated with respect.
- assistance with all aspects of mobility and transfers including usage of specialised equipment
- Support with Medication and keep accurate records of administration in accordance to company policy and procedure.
- General light domestic duties including laundry and ironing.
- Assisting with the cooking of light meals, preparing snacks and the provision of beverages.
- Carrying out tasks as specified in the Service User’s individual service/care plan, taking action to enable the Service User to carry out as much self-care and other activities as possible.
- Helping with handling the service users’ money in respect of collecting pensions and the payment of bills including shopping. Ensuring accurate and up to date records are kept.
- Assisting with pet care, including supporting service user to feed pet.
- Transporting service users to local amenities
- Supporting service user to make and at times attend medical appointments.
- Keeping accurate and detailed visit logs of duties carried out, ensuring they are dated, timed and signed.
- Respecting confidentiality at all times within an equal opportunities framework.
- Ensuring a safe environment is maintained in accordance with Care Solution Bureau policies, such as, Health and Safety Policy and Challenging Behaviour Policy
- care of pressure areas and prevention of sores
- provision of emotional support to the person with care needs and their carer(s) as part of the caring team
- create and maintain positive relationships with customers and family carers
- provide general advice and guidance to customers to help them to make informed choices
- participate in on-going training and development
- actively participate in regular supervision and appraisals

Working in a community or residential care
