Role Overview & Responsibilities

Technical Support Specialist

  • Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 FTE (£21,408 - £25,690)
  • Hours: Full time, term time only
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Location: Surrey

This is an exciting role to provide high quality on-site technical support to a secondary school in Surrey.

We are looking for someone with experience of supporting technology within an education setting.

Strictly Education is part of Supporting Education Group which provides extensive CPD and career development opportunities for all staff.

The role will involve:

  • To provide daily IT support within a secondary school environment
  • Logging issues on the service desk
  • Dealing with all edtech issues from interactive boards to laptops and servers
  • General troubleshooting of user issues in the classroom
  • Installing new hardware to the network
  • Escalate calls to service desk as required
  • Carry out network updates and health checks
  • Monitor backups
  • Liaise with 3rd party providers and suppliers on behalf of the school

What we are looking for:

  • Excellent knowledge of:
    • Microsoft Windows client operating systems
    • Microsoft Windows Server operating systems
    • Microsoft networking technologies
    • Backup technologies, including Windows Server backup and Veeam
    • Antivirus systems
    • Server and Computer Hardware
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft 365
  • A clear understanding of networking infrastructure - cabling, routers, managed switches
  • An understanding in the use of technology in the Education Sector
  • Proven communication skills, both oral and written


The role is based on site in a secondary school setting during term time only.
