Role Overview & Responsibilities

About the Role

Elizabeth Courtauld Surgery is a large GP practice in Halstead and we are looking for a permanent part-time Receptionist for 23 hours per week to cover the following shifts:


Mondays 08:30-13:30

Thursdays 08:30-12:00 & 13:00-18:30

Fridays 08:30-12:00 & 13:00-18:30


The main responsibilities of the role include:
  • Greeting and directing all patients;
  • Making appointments and giving out appointment cards, where required;
  • Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.;
  • Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints;
  • Advising patients of practice procedures;
  • Registering new patients;
  • Answering the telephone, promptly.

The successful candidate will be fully trained to use the practice’s clinical system and follow processes for booking appointments and dealing with patient queries, as well as booking home visit requests.


About the Candidate

We are looking for a receptionist to join our busy practice team and help make a positive impact on our local community.
Previous experience in a GP practice or healthcare setting would be preferable but the main qualities we are looking for are a helpful, friendly personality, good communication skills, ability to learn processes quickly and accurately, and have the flexibility to cover at short notice.
