Role Overview & Responsibilities

Ropsley and District Parish Council has a vacancy for a Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer for our group of five villages based in rural South Kesteven near Grantham. The position is home based.


Duties will include:

  • Servicing meetings of the parish council, including agendas, minutes and providing advice to Councillors.
  • Managing the Council’s administration and services and responding to enquiries and correspondence on behalf of the Council.
  • Managing the Council’s finances, including budget monitoring, budget preparation, bank reconciliations, internal and external audit and raising and payment of invoices
  • The ideal candidate would either have previous experience as a parish clerk or a background in administration and finance and be willing to undertake the training required for the role.


We are looking for someone who is:

  • An experienced administrator with excellent IT skills
  • Highly numerate with experience of financial administration
  • An excellent communicator, including the confidence to speak at public meetings
  • Able to respond to members of the public with tact and sensitivity
  • Able to work with minimal direct supervision, as the role is home based apart from attendance at meetings
