Role Overview & Responsibilities

Our salon has been open for 9 years. We are an incredibly busy salon working Monday – Saturday, grooming in excess of 120 dogs per week. We have a reputation for high end quality grooms using only the best products and equipment. Any candidate that joins us must be a team player and have a ‘can do’ attitude. We are a very friendly salon with a positive success rate of previous apprentices.

We have a rare vacancy for a Dog Grooming Apprentice to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our director to maintain the successful running of the salon, whilst learning how to create expert grooms for our clients.

No previous grooming experience is necessary; however we do ask that you have a passion for dogs and a willingness to learn the role Duties will include, but is not limited;

• Welcoming clients and their dogs into the salon
• Updating customer records and taking bookings
• Bathing
• Drying
• Nail Trimming
• De-shedding
• Promoting treatments and add-ons
• Teeth Cleaning
• Cleaning and maintenance of the salon and equipment

Once competent, you will progress to basic clipping and styling work.

Qualifications

• Applicants MUST NOT already hold a level 2 in Dog Grooming
• GCSEs or equivalent in maths and English are desired

Future Prospects

• Upon completion of the apprenticeship, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to progress to a Stylist position if the available.

Training

• Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
• The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Dog Grooming Apprenticeship Standard.
• The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
• The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship

Things to consider

• KEITS Training Services Ltd reserves the right to close the vacancy earlier than the listed closing date should the need arise.
• The apprentice will be working to build a portfolio of evidence and will be required to pass a knowledge test and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete the apprenticeship.

Salary: £5.28 per hour
