Role Overview & Responsibilities

The Security function within DDTS is recruiting a Strategy and Policy Officer to join their team on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will support the wider strategy and policy team by developing and maintaining risk-based policies to help drive strategic transformation. Working closely with a range of stakeholders, both internal to Defra but also within the wider government organisations and industry bodies. You will identify current and potential future opportunities for improvement and ensure that the group security strategy is fit for purpose.

You will need to build an excellent understanding of the organisation and its strategic drivers, strategies, policies and challenges to ensure security strategies can meet changing business needs across the Defra Group and ensure Defra is able to deal with increasing security threats to UK Government.

Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with stakeholders both internal and external to Defra to review changing requirements and provide recommendations and guidance on security policy and strategy.
  • Act as the Defra Security representative on cross government policy and strategy forums.
  • Take ownership of projects that are relevant to the success of the Defra group strategy.

Skills and Experience

  • Developing and implementing strategy, frameworks and operating models within a large organisations.
  • Experience in government and/or a large and complex corporate environment.
  • Highly organised, pays attention to detail and can prioritise tasks efficiently, managing time, activities and resources.
  • Excellent people skills with an ability to work in a dispersed environment and build effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders alike.

Salary: £30,317.00-£36,606.00 per year
