HGV Class 1 Shunter

We are currently looking for a HGV Class 1 Shunter to join our busy Transport Department based at our Distribution Centre in Wixams, Bedford

This will be working nights 5pm - 5am, 4 on 4 off.

In this role you will report directly to the Shift Manager, and carry out shunting and yard duties, with a 4 on 4 off shift pattern. The role would ideally suit a driver who is used to working in a fast paced environment and has good management skills to organise their workload and trailers, whilst liaising with both the transport and warehouse teams.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

• Working closely with Transport and DC to ensure trailer availability at time required for loading
• Control of yard space and bays to ensure smooth and safe operating
• Audit trail of trailer movements via the tracking sheets provided.
• Good communication with stakeholders generally via 2 Way radio.
• Liaising with stakeholders to fully understand trailer type requirements for next loading detouring and presentation of service/mot trailers
